I absolutely love all Jack’s and SoCo related art/tattoos. It makes me incredibly happy to see that Andrew has positively influenced so many lives, including mine.

I wanted something a little different from the things I had seen anyone else get, which is why I settled on this particular color, size and a single word. This tattoo holds two meanings- one of which is emotional, and the other is much more literal.
I’ve been a fan of Andrew McMahon for 9 years (through Something Corporate and Jacks Mannequin), and the song “Swim” by Jacks Mannequin is the single embodiment and representation of every song of his that has helped me through life. From being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder almost a decade ago, to depression and now to my current battles with cancer in my family, Andrew’s music reminds me to stay strong and keep fighting every single day- even when it feels impossible. Music has kept me going through life, and without the music of Andrew McMahon, I really don’t know where I would be today.
My childhood was spent in the water almost entirely. Most of my memories are spending each summer with my sister at the community pool at our local park. Every day she took me to swim, and she would let me stay as long as I liked. My parents would save up enough money to drive an hour or two to a neighboring city- so we could stay in a new hotel and I could go swimming in the pool.
It almost felt ironic when I decided to get this tattoo, because the word meant two very different things in my life, but both are equally as important to me.

Love.

My second tattoo, done at Family Ink in Queensland. My whole life is a mess, in the past year EVERYTHING has changed, but things are slowly but surely getting better and I just feel like this is appropriate for where I currently am in life. Impulse tattoo, went in to book my thigh piece, came out with this, but I’m more than stoked on it. Oh, and I also just reeeeally love Jack’s Mannequin, and pretty much anything else that Andrew McMahon does.

Love.

  • Question: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT? - tumblrbot
  • Answer:

I’m not really sure… I have this adorable little knitted guy with a broken heart, a loose arm, and a nail in his head. He’s probably my favorite inanimate object. :) What’s yours?

So I’m sitting here in class… which is by no means exciting… and I start to research my favorite person (Andrew McMahon of course) and what do I find that I haven’t found before? Fuck Yeah Andrew McMahon How is it i’ve never seen this?

Anyways, the exciting part: The third or so entry down is one of my installations! So I click it, and realize it’s been all sorts of reblogged and loved and I just don’t know how to express how amazing that is! Thanks fellow Andrew McMahon fans, you’re all amazing!

Check out how many people reblogged from ONE site!

By the way, I’ll try to keep up with this more, for whoever is actually interested out there :)

“I Will Fight”. These simple words were just a part of a Something Corporate song from way back, but they became more than just lyrics when the singer, Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia… Wrist bands were sold around this time to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.. this tattoo makes my day… :)

Rip

Text

I just watched a documentary called, Rip. It is a free documentary about the ridiculous copyright laws America has. I highly recommend you go download it (it’s free!). They ask for a donation, but it’s completely up to you.

To be completely honest, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the entire movie. I was shocked, angry, saddened, and amazed.

Did you know that somewhere out in the world, there may be a cure to cancer? That there may be major improvements to medicine, but no one is allowed to create or improve them because some idiot (excuse my language, they aren’t idiots, especially if they came up with a cure for cancer, but you get what I mean) is sitting on the idea and has a “paton” on it? REALLY?

And to top this outrageous thought off, did you know that american drug companies caused a problem (a rather large lawsuit sort of problem) when a poor Brazilian town got a hold of a medicine for Aids/HIV? Here these people are, poor, sick, miserable, and someone comes along and offers a medicine to help that is cheap enough for these people to afford. What happens? Well, what do you think? They took a medicine and sold it cheaper than it was supposed to be sold for. Crime.

Is it a crime to help someone live?

Is it a crime to take music you bought and mash ‘em up?

I don’t even know how to react yet….

Take a look at it, post a reaction, remix the movie, start a trend and get people THINKING.

:)

The first thing I thought of when I watched the PopTech presentation and heard about flexible displays, was a video on nanotechnology. They seem rather similar, and I’d like to see how the products turn out one day.

How cool would it be to have something so small that you could roll it up and stow it away, yet it still does what other technology does now?

This article expands on the idea of this new toy :
